If you are a blogger that wants a classy site or a business with a website, you are going to need web hosting. If you don’t know how all that works, here’s a great little video to help you out (Click Here). Web hosts abound and they will cut you deals to get your business. They all look enticing but what is really comes down to is customer experience.
Which Web Host is Best?
Host Gator Review:
Like any newbie I started out with what everybody seems to start out with: Host Gator. Host Gator is visually appealing and for the most part can be navigated around quite easily. Generally speaking compared to others it is cheap.
But then I had a problem. And well, I personally found customer service maddening. Couldn’t get help when I needed it and couldn’t get answers when I wanted. For me, if you can’t help your people get unstuck, well, I’m out. Customer service matters. Add to that others were reporting huge losses of income because of down times. Down time costs money to customers that doesn’t get reimbursed.
- Cheap Price
- Interface is moderate with navigation
- Customer service
- Down times that can kill your business
Blue Host Review:
The next on my list was Blue Host. This is the one that seems quite popular also among the masses. Of all the ones I’ve used this one perhaps has an interface that is the easiest to navigate. Nice big buttons, obvious places to go, and respectable customer service. But we broke up. Why? Because THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. Seriously another web host has free SSL but Blue Host? $39.99 EXTRA. Forty bucks for something I can get free elsewhere. By the time I went to check out it was ridiculous.
- Pleasing Interface
- Decent customer service
- Unnecessarily expensive.
Host With Love:
I’m a visual person and honestly, Host With Love wasn’t the most appealing. But I had heard good reviews. So I gave it a go. Of all three their interface theirs was the least appealing. Hey, I’m visual. But where Host With Love makes up for all the others is their SUPERIOR customer service. These guys go above and beyond to help you. I mean really above and beyond. Add to that they have a great sense of humor in the process. With pricing they fall into the middle of the road category. Free SSL too. So I bid adieu to Host Gator and Blue Host and stayed with Host With Love. We’ve been with them for awhile now and they are consistently good. Consistently reliable. And if there is ever an issue they make sure you know. At times when there has been a slip up, they’ve made it right by me (even when it’s been my fault) and taking the hits financially. I can’t say enough good about these guys.
- Excellent Customer Service
- Moderate Price level
- Great guys who work for your best
- Interface not as smooth
- Customer service takes a bit to get back to you, but really good help when they do.
Recently someone recommended me to Site Ground and since I was part of a training program, I put a website there to check it out. I’m actually pleasantly surprised. They have a beautiful interface which is easy to navigate, they offer FREE SSL, Cloudflare and even Railgun to make your site fast. And the price is comparable. Another thing they have that Host With Love doesn’t have is live chat. Site Ground is quick to get on their live chat and you don’t have to wait a long time so that’s a bonus. BUT, clearly they juggle multiple customers at a time. Simple questions may make you wait 2-3 minutes and report, “I’ll be happy to help with that,” then wait 5 minutes, “Yes,” then another 3-4 minutes, “Try this.” Maddening. I recently sent a scathing review at the end of a chat. Live chat is great but irritating and devaluing when it takes 15-20 minutes for a simple question. But it hasn’t always been the case. Some reps try to juggle more people than others. So it’s hit and miss.
- FREE SSL, Cloudflare and Rail Gun (HUGE benefit)
- Beautiful interface
- Good uptime
- Live Chat
- Live Chat Distracted Reps
What is my Pick?
Right now I’m torn and have both. The Host With Love Team has bent over backwards to be helpful, even taking direct hits financially to give me the benefit of the doubt. Their customer service guys have stirred loyalty in my heart. But SiteGround has much better quality back end and has so high dollar value options FREE (RailGun in particular). If I were to do it over again I would go with SiteGround. I’m just still having trouble giving Host With Love the break-up notice as their customer service has been that good.
